About United States History Dual Enrollment

This semester-long course in United States history is actually comprised of two college courses being offered by Central texas College: HIST 1301  deals with the history of America prior to European colonization through post-Civil War Reconstruction and HIST 1302 looks at the rise of the American nation following Reconstruction to the issues of today.

Successful completion of the course will not only satisfy the requirements for high school but will also earn the student 6 semester hours of college credit. In many college degree programs this may be all the history that is needed.

Students taking U. S. History Dual Enrollment will be treated as college students as much as KISD allows. Students will have fewer grades and will be expected to adhere to the Central Texas College rules on plagiarism and academic honesty (cheating). Failure in the first semester will result in the dropping of the student from the course. To succeed, students need the self-discipline required to turn in their work on-time and do the necessary studying.

In most cases, students who flunk out of college do so because they lack study skills, do not do the required work, and skip classes. College is not hard- but being a college student can be.
