About Your Instructor

Mr. Marshall was born in Connecticut but grew up in New York. He has had many occupations including commercial artist, janitor, security guard, bellhop, and gas jockey (back when there were such things as full-service gas stations).

He served in the army as a combat engineer, atomic demolition munitions team leader and platoon sergeant, instructor for atomic demolitions AIT and courses for NCO and Officer basic courses, communications security custodian, and brigade engineer NCOIC. He worked with the Belgian and Italian armies and is language trained in Italian. His highest clearance was crypto/top secret- BI/ atomal.

After retiring from the service, he drove an eighteen-wheeler for 3 1/2 years and traveled throughout all the 48 contiguous states and Canada.

Mr. Marshall graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Central Texas with a bachelor's degree in social studies. He graduated from Tarleton State University with a master's degree in history. In six years of college, he received only one grade lower than an A- he earned only a B in college algebra (rats!)

He has taught at Ellison High School since 1999. He was the chess coach (when KISD had competitions) and sponsored the Travel Club. From 2003 to 2008, he has taken students to Greece, Italy, Great Britain, France, Monaco, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand.

Mr. Marshall also teaches American history, ancient history, the history of American film, and the social sciences at Texas A&M Central Texas.
